I am so excited to share with you all my first ever travel post! Because I have been traveling so frequently lately, I have been wanting to start a travel section. And what better way to start off this series than to share with you all my New York Fashion Week experience. I hope you all enjoy!
Anytime I am flying out of South Florida, my ideal trip is to fly with Jet Blue out of Fort Lauderdale airport (because Miami International is way to hectic for me and is always under construction). I left Miami on Wednesday at 9:30 pm and got into the city around 1:30 am.
Sarah and I stayed in Times Square at Millennium Broadway Hotel. It is located at 145 W 44th St, New York, NY, 10036. We decided to stay in Times Square because it is pretty centralized and it doesn’t take too long to get to and from upper and lower Manhattan, depending on the events and meetings we had. Our room was a standard hotel room, and had two double beds. The hotel is a bit old, but it did the job and we managed to get around the city perfectly.
At 9:15am on Thursday morning, Sarah and I headed to ION Studio NYC (here is their IG) an adorable hair salon in SoHo’s historic district. I received a wash and blow dry from Sarah Rappolt, who was so incredibly sweet and did my hair perfectly!
What I love about ION Studio is that it is “one of very few sustainable hair salons in the world, and the only one to date in NYC. They recycle everything from paper and plastics to color by-product, metals and even hair.” If you are in the SoHo area and are looking for a great hair salon, I highly recommend Ion Studio. Every single person we met there was fabulous!
Since we had so many meetings on this day, I mentioned to my hairstylist at ION Studio that we wanted a quick cafe to stop into. She mentioned Pi Bakerie was right around the corner, and that they made the best and freshest croissants. Well, mention a croissant, and I am there! Long story short, this bakery way amazing! I wish we had more time to sit and eat. We grabbed a coffee and croissant, which my hairstylist was right. The croissant was amazing! I am definitely heading back to Pi Bakerie the next time I am in New York City. If you are in the area, Pi Bakerie is located at 512 Broome St, New York, NY 10013.
Our first meeting was with one of my favorite jewelry lines, BaubleBar. We made our way through they beautiful reception area, and headed to their showroom, which was equally as fabulous. It was like walking into your favorite store and all you want to do is try everything on and play dress up. Well that is pretty much what we did. After feeding us the most delicious b’day truffles, we started trying on all of their newest jewelry and went home with a few new goodies!
Desigual Fashion Show
Our first show ever at New York Fashion Week was Desigual, which is a Spanish brand mostly known for their trendy patchwork designs, crazy prints, graffiti art, and vibrant colors. Well the show did not disappoint. It was all of that and more. Right when we entered the Moynihan Station into the room where the show was being held, we were told to hurry up and take any seat we saw available. My seat was in the second row, right towards the end of the runway, so I was extremely happy we attended!
When we were invited to the Kyboe Show, I was a bit confused as to how a watch company was going to do a runway show. But, they definitely executed the show well. As models walked down the runway showcasing their Kyboe watches, there were mannequin hands in the center displaying all the new watch models. It was definitely a unique experience!
Good Morning America
(Do you spot me on the right side of the screen?)
On Friday, Sarah and I got the opportunity to view the new Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid collection at Good Morning America. We had to be at the studio by 6:30am, so we woke up around 4am to get ready. Luckily, GMA is filmed right next to our hotel, so it was a 2 second walk to the show. We were a little disappointed because they didn’t allow us to use our phones on set, so we didn’t get any good shots of the show. Luckily, my grandpa was watching and took a few photos of his TV screen. But regarding the collection, we both liked it a lot. Gigi Hadid is even more beautiful in person and wow! Her legs go on for days. She is definitely a stunning supermodel.
Visiting Carrie Bradshaw’s Home
If you know me, you know that I have seen every single episode of Sex and the City, and that I own both of the movies. I am pretty sure the reason I love New York City so much is because of SATC! Not only does it focus on 4 fabulous girlfriends, but there are always elements of fashion, food, and relationships in every episode… what is not to love? I have been to NYC so many times, but for some reason, I have never gone to see Carrie’s home! Well this trip, it finally happened! It was really cute, because after we finished taking photos, we saw so many other tourists doing the same exact thing.
Buvette is the cutest french cafe that is located at 42 Grove St, New York, NY 10014. Sarah found us this gem to have breakfast and it did not disappoint! When we arrived, it was quite packed. We got in within about 15-20 minutes, so I recommend making a reservation. Buvette was so charming and looked like it was from a scene from a Parisian movie. Every single food tray that passed by us, we wanted to eat. Sarah and I split croissants with butter & raspberry jam, the Belgian waffle topped with raspberries and finally, the multi-grain toast with avocado, cucumber & spiced yogurt. Everything was amazingly delicious. Oh, and you can’t forget our yummy cappuccinos!
After one of our meetings, Sarah and I decided to go eat at the extremely popular blogger bistro, Jack’s Wife Freda! I have seen this restaurant on my Instagram feed many times, so I knew we had to stop by at some point of this trip and give it a try. We brought along our friend Michael, who is also a New York blogger. Well, it definitely lived up to the hype because my Chicken Kebab dish was delicious! Sarah and Michael both ordered a burger and we all tested out some drinks. I had the Mint Lemonade which was refreshing, and Sarah and Michael had the watermelon juice (with a little vodka).
They have two locations: 224 Lafayette Street, between Spring and Kenmare Street (which is the location we ate at). And another location at 50 Carmine Street between Bleeker and Bedford Street.
Before this trip to New York City, I had never tried a Matcha tea. I was determined to taste this green looking cappucino during this trip. So after browsing on Instagram, I found the perfect neighborhood cafe, Chalait! It was such a cute little shop that Sarah and I went to early one morning. I ordered the Matcha Cappucino and their whole wheat banana bread and Sarah ordered a regular cappuccino. The matcha cappuccino was delicious! I am a huge fan of all teas, and matcha tastes like a green tea cappuccino! Well, I can firmly say now that I am a matcha fan, and need to find a good matcha cafe here in Miami.
Chalait is located at 1216 Broadway, New York, NY 10001.
One of my favorite breakfast/brunch stops that Sarah and I went to was on the last day of my New York trip. Like most of the restaurants we went to, it was on my NYC to-go-to list because I had seen it numerous times on social media. The Butcher’s Daughter has three locations in New York City, but we went to the location in the West Village, located at 581 Hudson Street, New York City, 10014.
I ordered the Cold-Pressed Orange Juice, which has tangerine, Valencia orange and carrot. It was so delicious and refreshing firs thing in the morning! To accompany my drink, I had to try the baguette with fresh hazelnut spread. Wow! It was amazing. Sarah ordered the Farm Eggs and Toast Soldiers, which I had to try for myself. My grandmother used to make this dish for me when I was younger, but I had no idea it was called eggs with toast soldiers. Learn something new everyday!
As you can tell, most of what we did was eat! Thank goodness that we both love trying new restaurants and cafe’s. I hope you enjoyed my first travel post! And if you have any recommendations for NYC restaurants, I would love to add them to my list for when I go back.
