Our Gender Reveal Party!

To say I am beyond excited to be sharing this special news with you all is such an understatement. We are officially pregnant and having a baby in March 2020!! We shared this news a couple of weekends ago, and actually shared the news the same day we hosted our Gender Reveal Party with our close family and friends! This seems so surreal sometimes, but we are so grateful for this special moment in our lives.

We already announced our pregnancy over on our social media channels (follow me @bisousbrittany on Instagram for more updates) and the gender of the baby! But if you missed it, we are having…

A BOY!!

I am so so excited to be a boy mom and it almost doesn’t feel real yet. I knew we were having a boy because my husband, Tyronne, is one of four boys and he has nine nephews. So the odds of us having a girl just weren’t really in our favor LOL! His family only knows how to produce boys… for now anyways!

But back to our Gender Reveal Party. With the help of my family, we threw this mini party together in about 3-4 days. I did my Harmony prenatal test on Monday, August 26 when I was 10 weeks pregnant. If you don’t know what the Harmony prenatal test is, it screens for any chromosomal conditions and it also tells you the sex of your baby! They told me it would take 2 weeks to get the results back, but it only took 1 week and 1 day. I received a call from my gynecologist on the following Tuesday and he told me the great news that the chromosome test came back great and asked if I wanted to know the gender. I told him I wanted my mom to find out, so we can do a reveal. So later that afternoon, my mom went and picked up the envelope that had the gender of our baby!

Because I have no patience, I had to push the gender reveal up a week. We had planned to have it the following weekend, but obviously I couldn’t wait that long. And at this point, my mom, sister and dad all knew the gender!

We decided to do a small brunch with close family and friends on Sunday and we wanted it to be fun yet minimal. Nothing too over the top.

THE FOOD

For food, we decided to do a brunch! Our menu consisted of bagels, donuts, a few different egg bakes (my aunt did three different types with various veggies, cheese and meats), fruit salad (which my dad made into a gorgeous watermelon basket), danish, chicken pate (this is my moms specialty and a family favorite), mimosa’s and coffee. It was simple but really delicious and pretty easy to do!

THE DECOR

For decor, we kept it simple. We picked up 5 dozen white roses from Trader Joe’s, an “Oh Baby” balloon sign from Target, all pink and blue plates, table clothes, silverware, napkins and cups from the Dollar Store. And that was pretty much it! Like I said, super simple but it came together so beautifully and I am really happy with the outcome!

CONFETTI & POWDER CANNON

To announce the surprise of the baby’s gender, I searched on many websites to find the right confetti sticks, cannon, surprise box, balloons, etc. But in the end, we decided on this confetti and power cannon from Etsy! My mom and sister ordered the gender color for me so both Tyronne and I would be surprised for the party. And I am so so happy with how beautiful the confetti was! We bought two sticks, but of course, when it came time to setting them off, I could not twist it LOL! I think I must have twisted the wrong way because my husband made it look so easy. So luckily, Tyronne was able to do his, and came back to do mine after all the excitement! It actually ended up working out perfectly because we were able to get more pictures with the second cannon going off later!

OUR FAMILY & FRIENDS

We want to give a huge thank you to our family and friends who helped us throw this party together in such a short time! We are so happy with how everything turned out, and are so grateful to have shared this extremely special moment with the people we are closest to! We even had our two favorite doggies, Bella and Kita, involved and they sported their beautiful pink and blue bows! Every single person made this day so memorable for us, and I am filled with so our baby boy will have such amazing people in his life who love him and care about him so much!
