headbands of hope
There are some companies that do amazing things when they make a sales, and Headbands of Hope is one of those companies! I was so happy when they reached out to me to collaborate, because they represent such a great cause. For every headband they sell, a headband is given to a child with cancer. “Headbands of Hope believes that headbands are a great way to restore confidence in kids during cancer treatment. That is why for every item sold, a headband is donated to a child with cancer.” How beautiful is this Gold Plated Headdress? I am in love with it!
Next, I want to discuss this gorgeous maxi dress/coverup from Red Carter Swim. It is called the Laurel Canyon Long Dress and is a multi-halter maxi dress. I love the pattern and colors of this dress. It is great for the summer time, whether you are wearing it over a bikini, or wearing it for a day out! It is perfect for both. And my favorite part about this dress: the plunging back! It is so beautiful to me and sexy! I highly recommend this dress if you are in the market for the perfect summer maxi.
Thank you all for stopping by!
Sorry I have been slacking so much on posting on the blog. This past weekend was non-stop. Tyronne and I are preparing for the wedding and had to take classes for the church we are getting married in. It was an all day retreat on Saturday and Sunday, so I have been drained this week. But enough excuses, let’s get to this look!
This crop top is from Classic Dailies and is the cutest summer top! I paired it with my favorite Target jeans, and this J.Crew clutch, which is super old. To top off the look, I wore my gold EdgeiWear sunnies, which are one of my favorite pairs of sunglasses. They add a bit of glam to any look! Oh and they are only $18.75 and come in 3 different color options.
I will be heading to Melbourne on Friday to visit my cousin’s newest baby boy, which I am so excited about! I can’t believe she already has two baby boys, and she is a few months younger than me! It makes me feel old. I sometimes can’t believe I am at the age that people are getting married and having kids. I swear I still feel like I am 18 years old. Where the heck did time go?
Well I hope you all are doing well. And thank you for stopping by and reading with me today. Have a great rest of your week!
Another Miami Swim Week has come and gone and I am here with a brief recap of my weekend! My Swim Week began on July 15th, when I attended the Fashion for Breakfast event with Australian designer Camilla Franks and model/blogger Rocky Barnes. The breakfast was held at Cecconi’s Miami Beach at the Soho Beach House where we got to see Camilla’s newest line from her collection.
Photo credit: World Red Eye.comNext, I headed over to the 1 Hotel at the Bollare “Hub” suite where I had to cool off from the summer heat. They had such a wonderful set up with snacks, great shopping and an amazing view of Miami Beach!
Next stop was heading to the Glamour bungalow at the Miami Edition Hotel. Wow, what a gorgeous hotel!
Here is me and Netty of The Fashionable Esq hanging out at the Glamour bungalow! We had the most delicious drinks (photo of copper mugs), great food and received a few goodies to take home!
I am sorry this Swim Week post is so brief. I didn’t take as many photos as I thought I did. But I hope you enjoyed my quick recap!
I have to say, I am extremely lucky to work at an office where I can come into work very casual. I tend to like dressing up reguarly, but there are those days that I just want to wear jean and a t-shirt. If I opt for this look, I try to dress it up a bit with a pair of comfortable heels. I feel like it pulls the whole look together and makes it look more polished.
While compiling this post, I realized I purchase a lot of my clothing and shoes from TJ Maxx. I love scoring great items for a discounted price. It makes shopping seem some much more rewarding for some reason! Anyone else feel this way?
Today is a pretty special day for me! On July 24th of last year, Tyronne proposed, so it has officially been one year since getting engaged. I can’t believe time has flown by so quickly. If you check out my Instagram tonight (@bisousbrittany), you will see one of my favorite pictures of Tyronne and I from our engagement photo shoot!
Well I hope everyone had a great weekend! Talk to you soon.
About two years ago, I really started to look at all of the clothing that I was buying and what materials they were made out of. My best friend started telling me that she was no longer purchasing clothing that was made of polyester because of how cheap it felt and looked. So that got me thinking, “Why am I spending so much money on clothing that is looks and feels cheap?”Most clothing in stores now are made of materials that retain heat, which is awful for me living in Miami. These cheaper materials aren’t soft at all and feels quit itchy to the skin if you ask me. After this discussion with my best friend, I vowed to not purchase anymore items that are made of cheap fibers and to get rid of all of my clothing that didn’t meet my new standard. Surprisingly, when I started to go through all of my clothes, I realized how much companies actually use these cheaper materials and how much I had in my closet.
Now, it is really important to me to buy clothing that is not only durable, but breathable and feels nice to wear, even if that means I am spending a few more dollars. I make sure to check all of the labels of clothing that I buy to ensure that they are made with majority cotton because fiber ingredients are extremely important. Cotton breathes so much better than most oil-based synthetic fibers like polyester. Now that I have been on a strict workout routine (because my wedding is quickly approaching), cotton is designed to keep you drier and much cooler during exercise. Also, one of the biggest pluses of all, cotton doesn’t absorb scent as easily as other materials do. Cotton releases smelly substances much more effortlessly than other fabrics once it is in the wash, which makes my life so much easier (especially if we are cooking fried chicken or making turkey bacon lol).
How do you feel about the fabrics you wear? I would love to hear your thoughts!
