It’s The Holiday Season

IMG_4654IMG_4679IMG_4661IMG_4630IMG_4652IMG_4672 IMG_4642 IMG_4638IMG_4646IMG_4689 IMG_4695Dress: c/o Lysse, Heels: Calvin Klein, Necklace: Bauble Bar from Nordstrom Rack, Ring: Nordstrom Rack, Nails: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel

I just love the holiday season. From decorating, to dressing up, and baking with loved ones, it is definitely my favorite season of the year. One thing that I love most about the holidays is getting to decorate my apartment. My Christmas Tree fits perfectly in the corner of the room (which I why I leave my tree up for much longer than it needs to be). I love hanging up our stockings that I DIY’d with our names on them, and I absolutely love the smell of baking sweets! I am still finishing up wrapping my gifts, but as you can see, I have started.

For this post, I wanted to show you how I decorate my apartment and how I would dress up for hosting a holiday party at our place. I opted for this beautiful Lysse wrap dress, which is the perfect elegant LBD. I pinned my hair into a low bun and added some fun diamond jewelry to make the look more festive. Of course I painted my nails this beautiful bright red, because what screams Christmas more than red nails and red lipstick.

In terms of decorating, I love my tree to have somewhat of a theme. I love having gold and silver decor on my tree and then decorating the rest of the apartment with red and green. I feel that this makes my tree stand out a bit more. To top off my tree, I added an over-sized silver bow to add some pizzazz!

And something special about today’s post, I will be also posting my favorite Chocolate Chip Cookie receipe in my “Cuisine” section. So head over there to get the most delicious cookie receipe for the holiday season!!

I hope you all are having a wonderful time prepping for Christmas time! Be sure to come back this week for more fun holiday inspired posts!

3aMy beautiful cousin Megan is having a baby boy within the next few weeks, so my family and I went up to the Orlando area this past weekend for her baby shower! It was a wonderful celebration for the new addition, who is without a doubt going to be showered with tons of love the day he arrives. The decor for her shower was adorable and full of blue touches. There were so many different types of desserts, party favors, and food with the baby boy theme, and it was all so beautifully done.

My favorite gift that Megan received was the set of hanger’s that section the babies’ clothes off by the month that they fit into (see photo 4). I thought that was a brilliant idea, and it must be so helpful when you receive so much clothing during your baby shower. Now, Megan can hang up/pick out the babies’ clothes according to the month’s that he turns. Genius! I loved that idea!

My family and I had a great time this past weekend in Orlando. Megan looked great and I know she is going to be the best first time mommy! I cannot wait to meet the new addition to our family!

DIY: How To Hang & Store Scarves

Hangers: Costco, Shower Curtain Rings: Walmart

I have been doing a bit of research on how I can better store some of my clothing and accessories and recently came across this great idea that I wanted to share with you all. I have a lot of scarves for all different seasons, and I had them all sloppily placed on a hanger in my closet. So I decided that I needed to find a way to display them better.

This DIY is very inexpensive, and super easy. All you need is a hanger, and shower curtain rings. I bought these curtain rings from Walmart for maybe $1.50. The hanger is from Costco (*TIP* all of my hangers are these black felt hangers because having the same hangers makes a closet look clean and more organized). All you do it place the curtain rings onto the hanger, make sure they are secured, and place the scarves through the curtain ring. Simple as that!

I hope this helped you in organizing your closet a bit better. I know I am always looking for easy and inexpensive ideas because I have way too much clothing/shoes/accessories than I have space. I will definitely be featuring more organizational tips as I continue organizing my apartment, so be on the look out for them!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!

DIY: Upholstering An Ottoman

The Finished Product

Things you will need: an ottoman, fabric (2 yards for this project), and a staple gun

This may be one of my favorite DIY projects I have done to date. A co-worker gave me this suede-like ottoman that she was giving away, and I thought, this would look so great in my living room if it wasn’t black. So my boyfriend and I decided to upholster it with material from Walmart. I bought two yards of fabric for $13 and a staple gun. In total, this project’s cost was about $35. Not a bad deal for the outcome.

It was a little difficult to finagle with the material on either side where we created the folds, but overall, I think the ottoman looks brand new. If I do say so myself, it looks like I bought it from a store for $100. So all it takes is a friend to give you an ottoman for free, $13 worth of material and a good ol’ staple gun.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY and thank you for visiting!

Organizational Tip: Hair Accessories

Baskets: Dollar Store for $1 each basket

My hair accessory drawer had gotten way out of hand. I had bobby pins, hair ties, head bands and brushes all entangled with each other, so I  found a cost effective way to organize this drawer. I went to the Dollar Store and bought 4 small baskets for my hair accessories and one larger basket for my brushes. It worked out perfectly and everything is neat and easy to find! Now, let’s see how long it will stay this way.

Before And After: Bold Curtains

Every now and then, I add a bit more to my very simplistic room. This time, I knew I wanted to add a bit of pizzazz so I opted for a printed window curtain! I purchased the curtains at Target for less than $20 a pack (I bought 4 packs so that each window could have two panels). A tip from my grandmother was to hang the curtains close to the ceiling which elongates the window, giving the appearance of a larger room! I am extremely pleased with the outcome and I adore my gorgeous new curtains!

DIY: Collage On A Budget!

Before

After
The Final Product!
I wanted to find a way to personalize my bedroom, but I was on a budget so I had to get creative. I had taken so many beautiful photos from when I studied abroad in Bordeaux and Paris, so I thought, why not put these photos to good use and display them! I went to Ross and purchased various frames in all different colors and sizes. Each frame cost me about $5, which was a great bargain! Then I went to Home Depot and bought white spray paint to make all the frames look more uniform. I then had all my photos printed at Walgreens and ta-da! A beautiful new collage that is personal and reminiscent of my time abroad. This project cost me about $60 total, and I love the outcome!

DIY: Reinvent A Side Table!

Before
After
To add a bit more storage space to my room, I purchased this small side table at Ross for $25 a few months ago. I thought that the piece had some potential, so I channeled my inner Martha Stewart and gave this side table a mini makeover! A little spray paint did the trick and now I have a cute piece of furniture to display all my magazines on top of and three draws that store more makeup and random items. This DIY only cost about $35 total, which I think is a great deal!

InstaGlam Photo: Decorative Pillows

Many stores were having Labor Day sales this past weekend. So on Monday afternoon, my grandmother and I rushed to one of my favorite stores, Stein Mart (which many describe as a store for older women, but I find THE BEST pieces of clothing, jewelry and home decor here), to look at their home department. I have needed new bedding for quite some time now, so I was on a hunt for some good finds with my grandmother’s three coupons on hand. I came across these two decorative pillows with French writing and fell in love! Now, I am trying to find bits and pieces here and there of Parisian styled decor to incorporate into my bedroom!
